JTEKT North America Wins Gold Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award for Developing Frontline Leaders on the Shop Floor

GREENVILLE, S.C. — September 8th, 2026 — JTEKT North America has won a 2026 Brandon Hall Group™ Gold HCM Excellence Award® in the Best Development Program for Frontline Leaders category for “Leading Standard Work Excellence,” a program developed in partnership with Flint Learning Solutions.

The 2026 Brandon Hall Group™ HCM Excellence Awards® recognize the best organizations that have successfully developed and deployed programs, strategies, processes, systems, and tools that have achieved measurable results across Learning and Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Sales Performance, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and the Future of Work.

On the manufacturing floor, Standard Work (the documented, repeatable processes that govern how work is done) is upheld day to day by frontline leaders. JTEKT North America saw a clear business benefit in strengthening the everyday habits of its Team Leads and Supervisors: more consistent quality documentation, more proactive ownership, stronger coaching, and more frequent communication on the floor.

Those habits are best built in the flow of production, not by taking leaders off the line for classroom sessions.

JTEKT and Flint Learning Solutions delivered role-specific, on-the-job activities that Team Leads and Supervisors practiced during actual production. Each activity took under a minute to read and prompted a specific leadership behavior, such as a quality conversation, a 5S walk, or a coaching moment, carried out in the flow of the shift.

Both participants and their managers assessed the same behaviors before and after the program, producing independent evidence of change rather than self-reported impressions alone.

Over a 10-week period, the program delivered measurable behavior change, including:

  • More than 95% bilateral validation, meaning both leaders and their managers independently confirmed behavioral improvement;
  • Leaders generated more than 1,600 additional Standard Work conversations out on the floor
  • Under six minutes each week per participant using Flint’s software

The activities also surfaced practical intelligence from the floor, generating new Standard Work recommendations that leaders identified through their own daily practice.

“Our frontline leaders are where Standard Work lives or dies, so building their capabilities in the moment, right on the shop floor, is crucial. We’re proud that this recognition reflects the strength of our North American teams and the shared standards we uphold across JTEKT globally,” said Erin Wilson, Manager Learning Organizational Development, JTEKT North America.

“JTEKT North America proved that developing leaders can happen right on the shop floor, by practicing the skills that matter to the business. Measuring behavior change from both the leader’s and the manager’s perspective, JTEKT built confidence that these new habits are real and will help shape the business culture,” said James Glover, CEO of Flint Learning Solutions.

Entries were evaluated by a panel of veteran, independent senior industry experts, Brandon Hall Group analysts, and executives based on the following criteria: alignment to their business need and environment; program design, functionality and delivery; adoption, integration, user experience, innovation and creativity; and overall effectiveness, impact, and measurable benefits.
